Congress MP Raises Concerns Over DSP's Exclusion from SP Promotion

Daily News Nepal

Arjun Narsingh KC, a Nepali Congress member, has expressed concerns regarding the police force's promotion procedure, namely the exclusion of the highest-ranking Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) from promotion to Superintendent of Police (SP).

During the House of Representatives' zero-hour session on Monday, MP KC protested the decision to exclude the number one DSP from the promotion to SP, claiming political involvement by the ruling coalition.

He voiced displeasure, adding that "the government's commitment to good governance has been compromised by unjust practices that sideline experienced individuals."

In a recent round of DSP to SP promotions performed by the Police Headquarters, Pradeep Chhetri, the top-ranked DSP, was missed while Vinod Ghimire, the 12th-ranked DSP, was promoted. MP KC noted the mismatch, underlining the disconnect between the government's rhetoric and actions.
