Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane today hit back at the Nepali Congress party over allegations of his involvement in a cooperative fund misappropriation case. Addressing the Parliament, Lamichhane questioned Congress President whether the party's previous offer to make him Prime Minister for one and a half years still stands.

Lamichhane, who is also the leader of the National Independent Party (RASWPA), pointedly asked, 'If it is not acceptable for me to be the Home Minister, then what morality is acceptable to become the Prime Minister?' He further questioned whether the offer to accept him as the prime minister for one and a half years has expired or if there is still time.

The Home Minister's remarks come in response to recent demands by the main opposition Nepali Congress regarding his alleged role in the misuse of funds from a cooperative organization. Lamichhane has denied any wrongdoing in the matter.

"It will be good for me if the Congress chairman answers this matter standing in this House," Lamichhane stated, calling on the Congress President to clarify the party's stance publicly in Parliament.

The opposition has intensified pressure on the government over various allegations against several ministers. How this latest exchange impacts the wider political dynamics remains to be seen.
