Nepali Congress Urges Parliamentary Probe Against Home Minister Lamichhane

Daily News Nepal

The Nepali Congress has stepped up its call for a parliamentary investigation into Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane's role in a cooperative case. In a recent House of Representatives meeting, Congress general secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma reiterated the party's position, pressing the government to convene a parliamentary probe committee in the coming session.

Sharma underlined the importance of clarity, warning against misconceptions about the party's aims. He underlined that the Congress's goal is not to compete for the Prime Ministership, but rather to address pressing governance challenges. Sharma dismissed speculation about Prime Ministership offers and reaffirmed the party's commitment to remain in opposition.

Furthermore, Sharma disputed accusations about offers made to him, humorously noting on his lack of enthusiasm in pursuing higher rank. He encouraged transparency in transactions and emphasized the significance of institutional decisions over individual proposals.

Meanwhile, the Congress has issued a harsh warning, claiming to disrupt parliamentary operations unless a parliamentary probe committee is constituted by the next sitting. The party remains unwavering in its call for accountability, citing worries about possible corruption with cooperative finances.
