The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has launched an initiative to aid Nepali workers detained in Kuwait for various reasons and unable to return home owing to financial restrictions.

Dr. Badri KC, the association's president, recently met with Helen Force, the head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Nepal, to discuss ways to facilitate the repatriation of stranded Nepalis.

During the meeting at the association's secretariat on Chaitra 20th, 2080, Dr. KC discussed the plight of Nepali workers in Kuwait who, after getting amnesty, are unable to buy return tickets to Nepal. He stressed the importance of the IOM's involvement in tackling this important issue.

Helen Force responded by acknowledging the necessity of aiding migrant workers and expressing her willingness to consider the NRNA's request. She told Dr. KC that the IOM will positively review the suggestion and endeavor to develop a plan to solve the matter as soon as possible.

Additionally, the gathering included discussions about the NRNA's planned efforts. Dr. KC recommended a collaboration between the NRNA and the IOM for the inaugural Non-Resident Nepali Women's Conference on June 29 and 30, 2024. Helen Force responded positively to the proposal, expressing her excitement about the prospective collaboration between the two institutions.
