Tanzim Hasan Sakib penalized for mid-pitch conversation

Daily News Nepal

Tanzim Hasan Sakib, a Bangladeshi seam bowler, has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the match against Nepal on Sunday. The incident occurred in the third over of Nepal's chase when Tanzim engaged in a mid-pitch conversation with Nepal's captain, Rohit Paudel, despite delivering an exceptional spell of 4/7.

The on-field umpires, Ahsan Raza and Sam Nogajski, alongside third umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal and fourth umpire Kumar Dharmasena, charged Tanzim with violating Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which prohibits "inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match)."

Tanzim admitted to the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, avoiding the need for a formal hearing.

Despite the incident, Bangladesh secured a 21-run victory over Nepal, ensuring their progression to the Super Eight stage of the event. Their next match is scheduled against Australia in Antigua on Thursday.
