Nepali President Ramchandra Paudel and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier held talks in Berlin on Monday, with both leaders expressing a desire to further deepen the friendly relations between their two countries.

During the meeting at Rastrapati Bhavan, President Paudel conveyed that Nepal has always placed great importance on its relationship with Germany, and hopes to bring the nations even closer together in the changing global environment.

Paudel stated his belief that organizations like the Socialist International and Progressive Alliance should take a more active global role in promoting social justice, human rights, democracy, rule of law and freedom.

The Nepali leader thanked Germany for its support during Nepal's peace process, adding that he is confident the friendly nation will continue assisting Nepal on its development path.

Paudel noted that in recent years, Germany has become an attractive destination for Nepali youth seeking higher education, skilled work opportunities and vocational training. He expressed hope that last year's bilateral agreement on skilled labor migration and knowledge exchange will be effectively implemented to further strengthen people-to-people ties.

For his part, President Steinmeier affirmed that Germany stands ready to provide all kinds of support to aid Nepal's economic development, according to Paudel's press advisor Kiran Pokharel.

The two presidents' discussions underscored the warm bilateral ties between Nepal and Germany and a mutual desire to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors going
